I won’t lie; I do enjoy painting landscapes (or any kind of scape) to escape the stress and constant self-doubt when painting harder subject matter so as to sharpen my skills as an upcoming painter. Though, at times, I like to become ensconced in my own comfort zone, allowing me to loosen my hair and paint something that doesn’t demand much of my sanity.
Landscapes, seascapes, mountainscapes, snowscapes, ad infinitum, serve as the best alternative(s) to the “I bit off more than I can chew” ideas and concepts which require my undivided attention. I can paint without being rushed. I can paint how I want and when I want, though nothing ever goes according to plan. That is the bitc… *cough* nature of art.
