The idea of painting came to me when I was viewing old artworks of Columbia from the early 1900s, combined with the hidden folklore of America (there is a lot) with the idea of having its own unique Wild Hunt, inspired by the ancient cross-cultural phenomena of Europe. I think many of us have read a little something on the Wild Hunt of Europe whereby different European cultures have their own variety of this fascinating phenomenon.
What is it, you may ask. Well, the Wild hunt is a chase, led by mythological figures - usually the gods of the different tribes - accompanied by ghostly figures or a group of supernatural hunters in pursuit, usually as embodiment or personifications of belief, ideals, initiations, customs and the untamed forces of nature .
Each tribe, as stated, will have their own variation of this hunt. For example, Scandinavians will have their Wild Hunt led by Scandinavian gods, Likewise, Germans will have their gods leading the Wild Hunt; and the same will go for the Gaelic, Slavic, Iberian and Italian people.
